Overview

Dr. Baichuan Mo is an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in the Department of Transportation Engineering, Tsinghua University, and the Principal Investigator of MoS Lab.

He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2018, ranking 1/105 and receiving the Tsinghua Presidential Scholarship, the highest undergraduate honor at Tsinghua. He received dual Master’s degrees in Transportation and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 2020, and his Ph.D. in Transportation from MIT in 2022, supported by the MIT UPS Doctoral Fellowship. His dissertation received the COTA Best Dissertation Award and other honors.

He has published more than 30 papers in leading journals, including Nature Sustainability, Transportation Research Parts A/B/C/E, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, European Journal of Operational Research, and Transportation Science.

Before joining Tsinghua, he was a Senior Research Scientist at Lyft, working on real-time driver incentive algorithms. He later served as a Staff Machine Learning Engineer and US Supply Chain Algorithm Lead in the TikTok E-Commerce algorithm team, where he led the development and deployment of algorithms for SKU-level demand forecasting, Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), replenishment recommendations, stockout alerts, inventory placement and transfer, and truck routing and scheduling.
